News aggregator Dailyhunt's parent VerSe Innovation raises $28-M from Canada's CPPIB
VerSe Innovation, the Bengaluru-based parent company of regional language news aggregator Dailyhunt and maker of short video entertainment app Josh, has raised USD 28 million (about INR 207.7 crore) from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB). The investment is a part of Series I round in which the company had already raised USD 450 million led by Siguler Guff, Baillie Gifford and Carlyle Asia Partners in August last year. Dailyhunt claims to serve over 350 million users every month while Josh claims to have 139 million monthly active users and 68 million daily active users.
From the Venture Intelligence PE-VC Deal Database: Between Oct-2009 and Aug-2021, VerSe / DailyHunt had attracted over USD 900 M from Carlyle, Siguler Guff, Bay Capital Investments, IIFL VC, Qatar Investment Authority, Baillie Gifford, Sofina, B Capital Group, Goldman Sachs, Alpha Wave Global, Sofina, Lupa Systems, M12 and others.
