News aggregator Inshorts raises $60-M from Vy Capital, others
Noida-based online news aggregator InShorts has raised USD 60 million in funding from Vy Capital and existing investors. The content startup operates news app InShorts and location-based social media platform Public, which was launched two years ago. InShorts has more than 10 million users on its platform. The app curates news items across categories such as national, world, politics, business, sports, technology and entertainment, in 60 words. Public has more than 50 million active users and claims one million videos are created on the platform every month. The app allows users to record and share happenings around them with real-time local updates. It is available in Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Assamese, Gujarati and Marathi.
From the Venture Intelligence PE-VC Deal Database: Between Feb-15 and Sep-20 InShorts had raised more than INR 500 crore from Susquehanna International Group (SIG), Addition (founded by former Tiger Global VC head Lee Fixel), Tanglin Venture Partners, Rebright Partners and Tiger Global.
