Oman's Tanweer Infrastructure to acquire Sembcorp's Indian energy unit for Rs.11,734-Cr
Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries is to sell its 100% stake in Sembcorp Energy India Ltd (SEIL) to Oman-based Tanweer Infrastructure for INR 11,734 crore. SEIL is a large independent power producer, operating two supercritical coal-fired plants totalling 2.6GW. Tanweer Infrastructure is indirectly owned by a consortium led by Oman Investment Corporation S.A.O.C. (OIC) in partnership with the Ministry of Defence Pension Fund, Oman HSBC Singapore was the sole financial adviser to Sembcorp for the deal.
