Ritankar Das founded AI research lab Prentis to raise $100-M at $1-B valuation
Prentis , a Bay Area-based artificial intelligence (AI) research lab in stealth mode focused on computer use models, is in talks to raise USD 100-M in a funding round that would value the company at USD 1-B. The startup, which launched in April, is co-founded by serial entrepreneur Ritankar Das along with Reid Hoffman and Mark Pincus.Prentis specializes in training AI models to navigate routine office workflows across documents and software systems. The company intends to use the capital to develop AI agents capable of controlling computers to automate manual tasks, such as managing insurance claims and processing duty refunds.The firm claims to have secured contracts with healthcare and manufacturing customers, projecting an estimated annualised run rate of USD 75-M by the third quarter of this year.
