Sequoia India-backed CRM s'ware maker WATI raises $23-M led by Tiger

Hong Kong- and Bangalore-based WATI (WhatsApp Team Inbox) has raised USD 23 million in a Series B funding round led by Tiger Global with participation from existing investor Sequoia Capital India and new investors DST Global Partners and Canada-headquartered E-Commerce software maker Shopify. WATI last raised USD 8.3 million in a Series A round 10 months ago, and its new round brings its total capital raised to more than USD 35 million since 2020. WATI has customer sales and engagement tools created for the messaging app. Founders Bianca Ho and Ken Yeung launched the firm in 2020 to give SMBs (small and midsize businesses) a self-service, low-code product on the WhatsApp for Business API. The firm currently has more than 6,000 customers in 75 countries, including SMBs in spaces such as house cleaning, schools, edtech, fintech, medical facilities, D2C brands and Shopify stores.
