Shastra VC launches deep-tech fellowship SDEX
Shastra VC , an early-stage venture capital firm, has launched SDEX, a deeptech fellowship program. The program aims to convert academic research into venture-ready startups and offers equity-free funding of up to USD 100,000 per fellow.The fellowship targets researchers from institutions such as IITs, IISc, IISERs, NITs, and IIITs. It runs for 16 to 24 weeks, structured around technical validation and early commercialisation. SDEX's first cohort will admit 15 teams, with applications closing on January 31, 2026.The program will operate through two tracks: a challenge track focused on predefined technical problems and a frontier track for open-ended research with defined technical milestones.
