SoftBank offloads 2% more in Paytm; realizes $200-M

Global investment firm SoftBank has sold another 2% stake in Fintech service Paytm's parent company, One97 Communications Ltd, via open market operations, generating over USD 200 million. SoftBank unit SVF India Holdings (Cayman) Ltd sold 12,771,434 equity shares of One97 in a series of public market sales between May 9 and July 13. SoftBank has been paring stake in Paytm since November 2022, when the one-year lock in period for the stock ended. With the current sale, SoftBank's stake in Paytm has come down to 9.15 %.

From the Venture Intelligence PE-VC Deal Database: Between Apr 2007 and Nov 2019, Paytm raised funding from investors including SoftBank across several rounds. The company went public in Nov 2021 at INR 2,150 per share. SoftBank made a partial exit as part of the IPO.
