Space tech co. Dhruva gets Rs.105-Cr grant under RDI Fund

Hyderabad-based Dhruva Space has raised INR 105 crore in grant support under the Central Government’s Research, Development & Innovation (RDI) Fund. The funding was formalised during the first disbursement under the government’s INR 1 lakh crore RDI scheme, which aims to boost private sector participation in strategic technologies and enhance technological self-reliance.Founded in 2012 by Sanjay Nekkanti, Chaitanya Dora Surapureddy, Abhay Egoor, and Krishna Teja Penamakuru, the company provides space engineering solutions, including small satellites, ground stations, and launch support.The startup plans to use the new funds to develop 'Project Garud,' a standardised, production-ready 500 kg-class satellite platform. This initiative is designed to support large-scale constellation deployments for telecom, earth observation, and national security, while enabling the domestic manufacturing of up to 600 satellites annually to reduce reliance on foreign systems.

Between Oct 2021 and Feb 2026, Dhruva Space had attracted about $ 31 M from Blue Ashva Capital, GVFL, IAN Fund, Hyderabad Angels, IvyCap Ventures, SIDBI VC, Big Capital, Blume Ventures, Silverneedle Ventures, Arvog Ventures, and others.For FY25, Dhruva Space had reported about INR 10 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 38 Cr in Net Loss.
