Swiss co. MSC to acquire 49% stake in Adani-owned Vizhinjam Port for $1.4 B

Geneva-based Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) is to acquire a 49% stake in the Adani Group’s Vizhinjam International Seaport for USD 1.397 Billion (INR 13,220 crore). The transaction is being executed through Terminal Investment, the global port operating arm of MSC.Adani Vizhinjam Port operates the deep-water transshipment facility in Kerala, which began commercial operations in December 2024. The firm currently manages a capacity of 1.6 million containers annually and plans to expand this to 5.7 million containers by December 2028. The deal values the company at USD 2.85 B.This investment strengthens the partnership between Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone and MSC, who already jointly operate container terminals at Mundra and Ennore.
