TVS Group’s Home Credit India to acquire school finance provider Varthana for Rs.967-Cr

Gurugram-based Home Credit India, a subsidiary of TVS Holdings, is to acquire Bengaluru-based school finance provider Varthana Finance in an all-cash deal valued at INR 967 crore. Post-deal, Varthana Finance will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Home Credit India and a step-down wholly owned subsidiary of TVS Holdings. Founded in 2013, Varthana Finance, formerly known as Thirumeni Finance, is a non-banking financial company (NBFC) that provides credit facilities and financial support to schools, colleges, tutorials, and vocational training centers. The company reported a turnover of INR 398 crore and a profit after tax of INR 18.65 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year. It had a net worth of INR 574.23 crore.

Between May 2013 and Jan 2026, Varthana had attracted about $ 188 M from Symbiotics Group, Triple Jump, WaterEquity, Blue Earth Capital, Franklin Templeton India, responsAbility, BlueOrchard, Triodos, MicroVest, ChrysCapital, Kaizen PE, LGT Venture Philanthropy, Elevar Equity, Omidyar Network, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Zephyr Peacock, Asha Ventures, Accion International, Others.
