Underwater drone startup Planys raises $4-M
Chennai-based deeptech startup Planys Technologies has raised USD 4 million in its ongoing pre-Series A round from Himalaya Finance, Golden Birch Investments, Krishna Defence, Impact India Investments, SiriusOne Capital, and individuals including Ashish Kacholia, Shalini Chhabra, and Puneet Gupta.Planys Technologies will issue 8,471 CCPS (compulsorily convertible preference shares) at INR 41,600 each to raise INR 35.23 crore. The company has been valued at around INR 135 crore (post-money) in the new tranche.Established in 2015 by Tanuj Jhunjhunwala and Rakesh Sirikonda, Planys does underwater inspection by offering secure and adaptable solutions through marine robotics and analytics systems. The company claims to be working on over 350 projects with 10 products across 5 countries. It also claims to have more than 30 patents.
Between 2018 and 2021, Planys had raised over USD 4 M from Kris Gopalakrishnan, Shell Technology Ventures, MEMG Family Office, ONGC Startup Fund, Keiretsu Forum Chennai and LetsVenture
