Varthana Finance secures $6-M loan from WaterEquity

Bengaluru-based school finance NBFC Varthana Finance has secured a USD 6 million loan from WaterEquity, a US-based asset manager.Founded in 2013, Varthana operates across 16 states and union territories, providing loans to affordable private schools and education loans to students pursuing higher and vocational education.The new funds will support the installation of clean drinking water systems, sanitation facilities, and hygiene infrastructure in low-cost private schools, specifically in peri-urban and rural areas.

Between May 2013 and Jul 2025, Varthana had attracted about USD 172 M in equity and debt from Blue Earth Capital, Franklin Templeton India, responsAbility, ChrysCapital, Elevar Equity, Kaizen PE, LGT Venture Philanthropy, Omidyar Network and others.
