Warburg Pincus-Bharti Group to acquire 49% in home appliances co. Haier India

Warburg Pincus has partnered Bharti Enterprises to collectively own a 49% stake in Haier India in a deal that reportedly values the India-based consumer appliance subsidiary of China's Haier Group at around INR 15,000 crore (about USD 1.5 Billion). Haier Group will retain a 49% ownership stake in Haier India, with the balance 2% stake to be held by Haier India’s management team.Haier India reported sales of INR 8,234 crore in 2024-25, growing at 30% year-on-year, while its net profit surged more than 200% to INR 480 crore. It’s targeting INR 11,500 crore sales in 2025-26.Established in 2003, Haier India has manufacturing facilities in Pune and Greater Noida and a product portfolio that ranges from refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, LED TVs, water heaters, deep freezers, and microwave ovens to kitchen appliances.The deal will also lead to localisation of the top management of Haier India. Haier India president Satish NS is likely to become the managing director replacing Chinese expat Decheng Huang.
