Bain-backed autocomp player RSB Transmissions initiates talks for Rs.3,000-Cr IPO
Global private equity firm Bain Capital has initiated talks with bankers to take its portfolio company, Pune-based RSB Transmissions , public. The automotive component manufacturer is planning to raise about INR 3,000 crore through an initial public offering.Founded in 1973 by R.K. Behera and S.K. Behera, RSB Transmissions designs and manufactures components such as propeller shafts, axles, and gearboxes for commercial vehicles, passenger cars, and construction equipment. The company operates manufacturing facilities across India and has an international site in Mexico, serving original equipment manufacturers including Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, and John Deere.In September 2024, Bain Capital invested in the company to support organic growth and strategic acquisitions. This June, the firm also funded RSB’s acquisition of Setco Auto Systems through an equity infusion of INR 525 crore from Bain Capital and INR 115 crore from the company’s promoters. Currently, Bain Capital holds a 64.3% stake in the firm.
Between Jul 2006 and Jan 2026, RSB Group had attracted about $188-M from Bain Capital, Evolvence, IIML, Others.For FY25, RSB Group had reported about INR 2,680 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 72 Cr in PAT.
