Hero MotoCorp to invest addl Rs.1,000-Cr in e-scooter maker Ather Energy
Hero MotoCorp is to invest an additional INR 1,000 crore (USD 103 million) in Bengaluru-based electric scooter maker Ather Energy. The investment is set to be executed through a preferential allotment of equity shares or other equity-linked securities. Hero MotoCorp held a 29.48% stake in the firm as of June 30, 2026.Ather, founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, manufactures electric two-wheelers and plans to use the new capital to support expansion, research and development, new product launches, and scaling of its manufacturing capacity.
Between Mar 2015 and Aug 2024, Ather Energy had attracted about $ 647-M from GIC, Hero Motocorp, InnoVen Capital, NIIF, Navam Capital, Edelweiss Private Equity, Stride Ventures, Sachin Bansal, Tiger Global, and others.For FY26, Ather Energy had reported about Rs.3,672-Cr in Operating Income and about Rs.517-Cr in Net Loss.
