Tata AIA Insurance and Temasek acquire 1.4% stake in SBFC Finance for Rs.161-Cr
Tata AIA Life Insurance Company and Aranda Investments, an affiliate of Temasek Holdings, acquired a combined 1.4% stake in Mumbai-based publicly listed SBFC Finance .The transaction, valued at INR 161 crore, involved the purchase of 1.53 crore shares through open market transactions from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).Tata AIA Life Insurance Company Ltd purchased 82.31 lakh shares, while Aranda Investments Pte Ltd acquired 71.33 lakh shares of SBFC Finance. The shares were acquired at an average price of INR 105.14 each.SBFC Finance (Small Business Finance Centre) is a non-banking financial company (NBFC) focused on providing secured loans to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and self-employed individuals, primarily in Tier II/III cities, through a 'phygital' model (physical branches + digital tools).
Between Sep 2017 and May 2023, SBFC Finance had attracted about USD 224 M from Amansa Capital, Malabar Investments, Arpwood Partners, Richard Chandler Corp and others.
