Brookfield, Digital Realty JV buys 10-acres for data centre in Chennai for Rs.230-Cr

Global alternative asset manager Brookfield Asset Management's flagship listed infrastructure company, Brookfield Infrastructure, and NYSE-listed Digital Realty's joint venture, BAM Digital Realty, are moving further with their plan to develop, own, and operate data centres in India. BAM Digital Realty has acquired a 10-acre land parcel in Chennai's Ambattur locality for over INR 230 crore from an automobile forging manufacturing company. Digital Realty, a global provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral data centre, co-location, and interconnection solutions, and Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. entered into a 50:50 partnership for this India-specific venture. The joint venture will operate under the brand name BAM Digital Realty. BAM Digital Realty wants to buy land parcels in Indian cities so that it can build data centre campuses to meet the needs of global hyperscale service providers as well as international and local businesses.
