NHAI to monetise 28 national highway assets in FY27
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to monetise 28 national highway assets during FY27 to raise about Rs.35,000-Cr. The initiative aims to recycle infrastructure assets to generate capital for the development of new road projects. The NHAI has identified a list of highway stretches for this purpose, with the highest concentration of assets located in Haryana, followed by Uttar Pradesh. The government plans to execute the monetisation through a combination of the toll-operate-transfer (TOT) model and both public and private Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvIT).The project pipeline for FY27 includes two build-operate-transfer (BOT) projects and seven engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, with a preference for monetising hybrid annuity model assets due to their lower risk profile.
