Assistive-tech startups Trestle, SignAble, Lifespark to get Rs.55-L in grants from Prosus
Holland-based Prosus, the international Internet assets division of South African multinational Naspers, has selected Trestle Labs and SignAble Communications, both based in Bengaluru, and Mumbai-based Lifespark Technologies as the country's most innovative startups developing assistive technology (AT) to aid persons with disabilities. Trestle, SignAble and Lifespark will receive grants of INR 25 lakh, INR 18 lakh and INR 12 lakh respectively as grants. The three startups will also be inducted into the Prosus SICA (Social Impact Challenge of Accessibility) mentorship programme, along with TinkerTech Labs from New Delhi (hearing impairment solution) and Visioapps Technology from Gurugram (visual impairment solution), which were placed in fourth and fifth positions, respectively. The announcement comes at the conclusion of year two of the Prosus SICA initiative in partnership with Invest India, Social Alpha and the World Health Organization.
