Catamaran Ventures appoints former Infosys execs as President, Chairman

Bangalore-based Catamaran Ventures, the family office fund of Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy, has named former Infosys executives MD Ranganath and Deepak Padaki as its Chairman and President respectively. Murthy now becomes chairman emeritus of Catamaran. Padaki, who replaces Ranganath as Catamaran's President, will be responsible for driving the firm's investment management strategy. He was, until recently, Infosys' executive vice president, group head of strategy and mergers & acquisition and chief risk officer. He has worked in the company for three decades. Ranganath, also an Infosys veteran of 18 years and the company's CFO until 2018, has been President of Catamaran Ventures since October 2019. Launched in 2009 with an initial corpus of USD 120 million, Catamaran now manages over USD 1 Billion across asset classes. It has invested beverage maker Paper Boat, spacetech firm SpaceX, Acko Insurance and news aggregator Daily Hunt.
