Meta may invest $3-M in event-focused betting platform Better Opinions: report

Social media giant Meta is in talks to invest USD 3 million in betting startup Better Opinions, as a part of the seed round that could peg the startup at about USD 25 million. Better Opinions, founded in 2021, is an event-based trading platform that allows users to trade their opinions on topics such as cricket, football, finance, and entertainment. Users can bet on results of matches, box office collections and earn cash for correct predictions. If the deal materialises, it will be the fourth investment by Meta in India. Facebook invested in social commerce startup Meesho in 2019 and followed it up with capital infusion in edtech platform Unacademy in 2020. Facebook had also pumped in USD 5.7 Billion for a 9.9% stake in Reliance Industries-owned Jio Platforms.
