Renewable energy firm Greenko raises $700-M from existing investors, founders
Hyderabad-headquartered clean energy focused Greenko Group (via Greenko Energy Holdings) has raised USD 700 million (about INR 5,700 crore) in equity funding from existing stakeholders including Singapore's GIC, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), Japan's Orix Corporation and the company's founders, The investment would be used towards capital expenditure in pumped storage projects, which will have storage capacity of more than 25 Gigawatt hours (GWh). This would enable 45 Billion units of dispatchable carbon-free energy (CFE). Pumped energy storage uses the gravitational energy of water for energy storage.
Between Mar-13 and Jul-19, Greenko Group had raised almost USD 2 Billion from GIC and ADIA.
