Seaweed farming firm Sea6 Energy raises $9-M from Aqua-Spark, Silverstrand
Bengaluru-based Sea6 Energy, a seaweed farming and processing firm with operations in Tuticorin and Bali. has raised USD 9 million (approx INR 67 crore) in Series B funding led by Aqua-Spark, the Netherlands based investment fund for sustainable agriculture. Singapore-based Silverstrand Capital is the co-investor in the Series B round. Sea6 plans to utilise the latest funding to augment its R&D, processing facility and strengthen marketing of its agricultural bio-stimulants and animal health products. Sea6 Energy develops proprietary technologies for converting fresh tropical seaweeds into novel eco-friendly products for segments such as agriculture, animal health, food ingredients, bio-plastics and renewable chemicals. The company had raised INR 35 crore in the Series A funding from Tata Capital Innovation Fund in 2015.
