Speech tech startup Murf raises $10-M from Matrix Partners India, Elevation Capital, others
Synthetic speech technology startup Murf.ai has raised USD 10 million in a Series A funding round led by Matrix Partners India, with participation from existing investor Elevation Capital. The round also saw participation from angel investors Ajay Arora, Disney Streaming; Ankit Bhati, founder, Ola; Ashwini Asokan, founder, Mad Street Den; Pushkar Mukewar, founder, Drip Capital; and Yamini Bhat, founder, Vymo. Founded by Ankur Edkie, Salt Lake City, Utah (USA) and Bangalore-based Murf helps businesses simplify the process of creating natural-sounding voice overs. The firm's SaaS tool enables users to create lifelike voices for their content. The platform also offers key features for smart pronunciations using IPA, voice customisations that enable users to change pitch, pause, emphasis, and speed, as well as the ability to clone a voice. The funds will be used to drive product innovation, accelerate R&D, improve technological capabilities, and scale presence across geographies. Most of the customers of the firm are in the US, Canada, and EU regions.
