Taurus - Sage Capital to raise Rs.500-Cr realty fund

Boston, US-based Taurus Investment Holdings and its partner Sage Capital are planning to raise INR 500 crore in domestic funds to invest in the real estate sector in India through the alternative investment fund (AIF) route. The firm is in talks with institutional investors towards the build-to-core development of shopping centres across the country and plans to raise a separate offshore fund to deploy in this asset class. Taurus plans to develop retail-led, mixed-use properties. The firm plans to focus on tier-1 and high-growth tier-2 cities such as Trivandrum, Visakhapatnam, Coimbatore, Bhubaneshwar and Trichy. Taurus is currently developing a 5.5 million sq ft, mixed-use project in downtown Trivandrum in partnership with the Embassy Group and Asset Homes, involving an investment of INR 1,500 crore.
