Telecom startup Wiom raises Rs.140-Cr led by RTP Global

Delhi NCR-based telecom technology startup Wiom (earlier I2e1) has raised INR 140 crore (USD 17 million) in a funding round led by venture capital investor RTP Global. Existing investors YourNest and Omidyar Network also participated, along with Global Brain, Blume Founders Fund, Alteria Capital, Stride Ventures, Stride One and 9 Unicorns. Wiom aims to democratise access to the Internet by leveraging the PM-WANI (Prime Minister Wi-Fi Access Network Interface) framework, which aims to provide affordable Internet access to 500 million Indians over the next five years.
