TPG Newquest sells its 2.21% stake in kidswear co. FirstCry to exit with Rs.202-Cr

Private Equity firm TPG Newquest has fully exited the publicly traded omnichannel kidswear company FirstCry. The firm, through its entity NewQuest Asia Investments III, sold its entire 2.21% equity stake, amounting to 1.2 crore shares, via a bulk deal at INR.175.15 per share, totalling INR 202-Cr. Goldman Sachs Investments Mauritius acted as a notable buyer, acquiring 68 lakh shares for INR 119-Cr.FirstCry is currently navigating a period of high operating costs and market competition, though it has reported improvements in unit economics. In Q1 FY27, the firm reduced its net losses by 35% to INR 44-Cr, while operating revenue grew 13% year-on-year to INR 2,106.2-Cr. The company’s subsidiary, Swara Baby Products, is preparing for an INR 1,000-Cr IPO.
TPG Newquest first invested in FirstCry in Dec 2019 and sold part of its holdings in Feb 2022. The company went public in Aug 2024, as part of which, TPG Newquest had made a partial exit.
