Video-based skilling platform Josh Talks raises $3.5 M led by Ankur Capital

Gurgaon-based regional language videos-based skilling platform Josh Talks has raised USD 3.5 million in a round led by Ankur Capital with participation from Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm), Vaibhav Domkundwar (Better Capital), Vineeta Singh (SUGAR Cosmetics), Ritesh Agarwal (OYO) and Ankur Warikoo (ex Nearbuy). Founded in 2015, Josh Talks has an average of 8.5 crore monthly views across platforms and has forayed into interactive educational courses (in 10 languages) by launching the Josh Skills app which has over 200,000 paid subscribers from Tier II and III cities of India, the report says quoting a company statement. The new funds will be used to refine its product and scale Josh Skills while the startup will also experiment with new product lines catering to the aspirations of this user segment.

From the Venture Intelligence PE-VC Deal Database: In Feb-2020, Josh Talks had raised over INR 11 Cr from Media Development Investment Fund and participation Rohit Chanana, Ajit Kumar Jain, Navroz Mahudawala, Amit Chawla, Suneel Bandhu, Raghav Paul, Ribhav Banga. The company had raised 3 angel investment rounds starting in Oct-2016 from investors including Rohit Chanana, Apurva Chamaria, Girish Mathrubootham, Sumit Ranka and Ritesh Malik .
