Building materials maker Saint-Gobain plans acquisitions in construction chemicals, insulation

France-based Saint-Gobain plans to invest INR 11,000 crore in India over the next five years to accelerate growth. The firm is currently evaluating potential acquisitions to expand its presence beyond the glass business into faster-growing segments such as construction chemicals and insulation. The new investment programme marks an increase in annual capital expenditure from about INR 990 crore to INR 2,200 crore.The company operates 82 plants across India and maintains an innovation hub in Chennai with 300 scientists. Saint-Gobain aims to leverage its local manufacturing base to support regional markets, including Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, while also promoting lighter construction materials as alternatives to traditional bricks and cement.In February 2025, the firm completed the USD 1.025 Billion acquisition of Fosroc, which added 20 manufacturing plants and bolstered its position in the construction chemicals sector.
