State-run gas utility GAIL is in talks to acquire a minority stake in three to four US-based liquefaction and liquefied natural gas (LNG) export projects, as part of a strategy to diversify its supply sources. The move follows supply disruptions experienced by India due to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, which impacted gas imports from Qatar and the UAE. GAIL currently manages an LNG portfolio of approximately 16.56 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) sourced from various international markets.
For FY25, GAIL had reported about INR 137,288 Cr in Operating Income and about INR 11,312 Cr in PAT.
