NTPC-MAHAGENCO consortium acquires bankrupt Sinnar Thermal Power

A consortium comprising state-owned power generator NTPC and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd (MAHAGENCO) have completed the acquisition of Delhi-based Sinnar Thermal Power Ltd (STPL). The acquisition was executed under the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) in accordance with the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT)-approved Resolution Plan.STPL owns a 1,350 MW coal-based thermal power plant, which includes five units of 270 MW each, located at Sinnar in Nashik, Maharashtra. Following this acquisition, the total installed capacity of the NTPC group has increased to 88,132 MW and its commercial capacity now stands at 87,052 MW.
