Mumbai-based Hindalco Industries has terminated its proposed USD 125 million acquisition of Cincinnati, US-based specialty alumina manufacturer AluChem . The acquisition pact, announced in June 2025, was to be a cash transaction with an enterprise value of USD 125 million. The development, which comes after the company spent over a year awaiting regulatory clearance, puts an end to a deal whose completion timeline had been repeatedly pushed back amid disruptions to the US foreign-investment review process.Founded in 1978, AluChem manufactures specialty and high-purity alumina products, including calcined, tabular, reactive and polishing grades, serving investment casting, refractories, advanced ceramics and polishing applications.
